چکیده

CYTOMEGALOVIRUS (CMV) disease results from a complex interplay among a variety of factors. the consequences of which are differences in the incidence and severity of CMV disease across different transplant populations. '-3 In May 1990. the small bowel transplantation (Sax) program was initiated at our institution. In this study we analyze the incidence and timing of CMV disease after sax and we assess risk factors for CMV disease in this new transplant population.

Cytomegalovirus Infection Associated with Acute Onset of Inflammatory Bowel Disease Forty Years after Kidney Transplantation: A Case Report

We observed a patient with de novo acute Crohn’s disease in the setting of very late cytomegalovirus activation in the blood and in the colon, 40 years after kidney transplantation, which has not been reported to date. Antiviral therapy associated with everolimus was effective without major adverse events. It remains unclear if cytomegalovirus infection was the trigger or the consequence of acu...

Incidence and risk factors associated with the development of cytomegalovirus disease after intestinal transplantation.

From May 1990 to March 1993, 38 patients (21 adults and 17 children) received 40 allografts that included the small bowel (14 isolated small bowel, 21 small bowel and liver, and 5 multivisceral transplantations). Fifteen patients (39%) had 26 episodes of CMV disease: 7 with one episode, 6 with two, and 1 each with three and four. CMV enteritis accounted for 21 (81%) of the episodes, hepatitis a...

De novo thrombotic microangiopathy induced by cytomegalovirus infection leading to renal allograft loss.

After kidney transplantation, thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) can occur de novo or as recurrent disease. Risk factors for de novo posttransplant TMA include ischemia-reperfusion injury, immunosuppressive drugs, viral infections, acute humoral rejection, and complement gene abnormalities. Cytomegalovirus infection as a trigger for posttransplant TMA in kidney transplant recipients has only been...

Intrahepatic cholestasis after liver transplantation.

Cholestasis is a common sequela of liver transplantation. Although the majority of cases remain subclinical, severe cholestasis may be associated with irreversible liver damage, requiring retransplantation. Therefore, it is essential that clinicians be able to identify and treat the syndromes associated with cholestasis. In this review, we consider causes of intrahepatic cholestasis. These may ...
